Question by : How to get my mom to let me wear make-up?
Ok so I’m 13 and all the make-up I have is a mascara and lip glosses. I’m only allowed to wear the mascara on Sundays when we go to church or any other special occasions. I’ve asked my mom a BILLION times (literally) if I could wear makeup and her answer was always “why would you wanna wear makeup? you’re beautiful like this…makeup’s just gonna make you look like 30.” But it DOESN’T!!!!! I sneak my mom’s foundation sometimes and I look a LOT better without all the acne and scars showing (I also have pretty bad acne which I am trying to cover with makeup) so you see where I’m going…plus I found a video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex33wtqnNz8&feature=relmfu which really helps you put your makeup on in a natural way so that it looks completely natural but all she said after she saw it was “do you really think that’s how she looks in real life? the camera’s just covering up all her layers of makeup on top of each other.” that’s when i got really mad but i didnt let her see it i felt like saying “so her CAMERA doesn’t cover up her acne but it covers up her “layers” of makeup?” ghhhhh anyways i really need some help…I’m desperate to be able to cover my acne with makeup…I’m even willing to work for the money for the make-up (since it is kind of pricey) so yeah I need some ideas…thnx :)
ohhh and also…..if we walk in walmart or target or whatever and I ask her if I can get some kind of makeup her excuse is always “this makeup is a piece of crap…I’ll get you organic makeup” she’s said that ever since I can remember and she still hasn’t…and I don’t think she ever will
and sometimes she just stares at my face (as i have mentioned i have pretty bad acne) and she says “gosh we really need to find something to do with your face” and when I find a way to do SOMETHING with my face so it won’t look so bad she always makes up some kind of excuse…ugghhhh it’s hopeless

Make up can be fun but only if you wear it the right way. Almost all of my friends had restrictions on makeup wearing until high school. Maybe if instead of asking to wear makeup in general, you could ask if you could wear cover up to cover your acne. Make sure to also ask your mom to help you learn to apply it correctly. It will make her feel more in control. Tell me if this works :)

Try reasoning with your mother. Tell her that you’re not interested with all the glitzy unnecessary makeup that’s out there, you just want to step outside of your comfort zone a bit. Mention the acne to her, as that seems like a good reason to wear foundation makeup. And toss in the fact that you won’t be wearing any crazy colors, just some simple neutral tones to enhance your beauty. And you won’t have to wear makeup all the time; try to get her to let you wear a bit of foundation and neutral eyeshadow whenever you’re going out, that way she’ll get accustomed to seeing you with makeup on. Besides, you’re growing up, and at some point in time she will have to accept the fact that you’re not a little girl anymore. If the answer still turns out to be ‘no’, don’t fret about it. By accepting her decision, it makes you seem mature, and, in turn, she’ll probably think twice about it.

Hope this helped!

i am 17, my mum doesn’t let me wear even concealer, you should listen to your mum! anyhow if you really want make up that bad, just tell her your self esteem is low without foundation, i hope she’ll understand! :)

Hmm… well first of all in choosing a foundation, your going to have to be careful because foundation can make acne worse. I personally don’t wear it myself , so I don’t know enough about it to recommend one. You could, however, try doing some research to see if they have foundations that help with acne as well as cover it. This would be important because make up can CLOG your pores and cause break outs. Your mom sounds very set on this one though, so maybe you could find a compromise. Perhaps instead of trying to cover the acne you could treat it with special face washes and creams. I don’t recommended just buying anything because you can’t always trust that the product does what it says it will, but with some research and guidance you can find some WONDERFUL products. So much of skin care is what you use to clean, moisturize, and exfoliate. I have a skin care lady that gives me facials and I get products from Dermalogica. It can be expensive, but its definitely worth it because it can help to clear your skin and keep the scars and acne from being there. Try doing some research in that area, and whatever you do, DON’T use any old product! Try seeing user reveiws. Also, some people have luck with dermatologists. A friend of mine went on acutane in highschool, and though while on it he had horrible break outs and was terribly dehydrated, his face is completetly clear now. So yeah. Do some research and don’t jump to anything as a fix all process! Also if you still want foundation, you could maybe find a good tinted moisturizer, hopefully one that is made for acne prone skin. good luck!

ps the secret to beauty is knowing your beautiful! <3

You should wear the right amount first of all. Then almost every night give yourself a make over with her make up and show her how much you like it. If that doesn’t work ask one of your friends to get it for you for Christmas or something. Tell your mom that you feel bad if you don’t use her present:)

so long story ,could you shorten it?
